Card deck used: Animal Totem Tarot, by Leeza Robertson
First, I must apologise this reading is late and also that it is in a different format. I've been quite scatty with dates, mostly because I have very bad hayfever at the moment. It's hit me hard and early this year, and with streaming eyes and inflamed sinuses and throat, conducting a video reading will not offer you the best of me right now! So, I've returned to writing these readings for the moment - very 'second nature' for me - and this also gives you a small taste of what a short email reading would be like.
We have quite a difficult week ahead with old personal traumas coming to light for a few people, and this will be a theme of 2020 every now and then because it is pivotal to clear these 'shadow realms' of our souls if we are to move forward into a brighter future. As a globe, we will also experience collective traumas to be brought to light and dealt with, with more and more of us recognising that old ways of fixing things no longer work, and in many ways served to put a plaster on a wound, but not heal the cause of that wound.
A perfect example of this is the murder of George Floyd. More than ever, the feelings surrounding why and how this can even happen is highlighted and as a collective, we are given the opportunity to decide whether we want these atrocities to continue week after week, year after year, decade after decade, century after century. We are given the opportunity to look the shadow in the eye and decide how to heal it on a fundamental level so such events never need to be repeated. No small task, but this is not an era of 'small tasks' we have entered into. This is an era of global change.
The above is only one example of collective trauma. There is also the current domination of Hong Kong from China, and many other shadows in many countries, dormant for eras, surfacing to transform somehow or another. The 'somehow or another' is always up to us as a species and how we wish to move forward ... and into what future.
And just as we, as a collective, deal with traumas, so do we as individuals. So, if personal difficulties come to the surface for you to face, face them. It is not a time for hiding or burying them - it is a time to have courage and slay our inner-demons once and for all.
So let us look at the cards we've got.
First question: What is the theme or lesson for us as a collective (and personally) this week?
Emotions run deep and they run hard at recent and current events, whether personal or collective. The trick is to not STAY in the emotion for too long, but to find a way to truly heal it permanently. It's important to be incredibly honest with yourself and ask WHY you feel the way you do. Reality is a funny thing because it is both real and an illusion. It is real in that events are happening. Shit happens. But it is an illusion in the sense that what is reflected back to us is our perception. We can only ever see reality through our perception (which is why arguments occur over real events).
So, what is the answer? Could we perhaps change our perceptions on a massive scale to create a new world? The water element of cups asks us to be flexible amid traumas and difficulties, and yes - even death; it reminds us that love also runs deep and feelings can change at the turn of every tide. It reminds us that healing is needed and that healing itself must be the ultimate goal of whatever we do next if we do not want patterns to repeat over and over again, and while anger has its place, only love heals. Only love heals.
Heal through changing our perceptions and loving: this is our theme and lesson for this week.
Second question: What actions should we take, given the above, to move forward in the best way possible?
There is no 'normal' anymore and you are no longer "safe" - at least that is the general feeling among many, collectively and individually. You might think this is a "bad" or negative place to be, but what it does is force change, and sometimes long-awaited change. This is what revolution is all about, and in order to move forward, we MUST realise that we need to find a different way to do things.
Those eight swords in the image form a bit of a maze. There is a feeling one might be trapped, but we are not trapped - there is always a way out, but we must put heads together to find new solutions to find the way out. Safe, after all, was an illusion before - not everyone was safe; not everyone was okay. And some people (perhaps you) are no longer willing to be or feel trapped or bound anymore. You might feel vulnerable in this "new world" with new decisions you have to make, but the key is to surrender to what is, for change must happen, and the new must emerge as the old crumbles.
The best action you can take is to surrender and accept the situation, then put logical minds together to come up with new solutions to fix old, painful problems.
Third question: What would be the best position for us (or I) to be in by next Friday?
Express yourself. That's what this bird does whether anyone likes it or not (usually because humans have encroached upon its territory). So, you may find yourself put out by other people's expression and the things they need to get off their chests. Ask yourself what YOU can do to heal your agitation, for they are allowed to express what they need to. Things are not the way that anyone would like them to be right now, but there's no use pitying yourself or criticising others. The only way out is to change yourself. For that is how you change the world - one soul at a time and it begins inside you. The raucous outside is not going to go away any time soon - in fact, it may get louder - so how are you going to deal with it? What do you need to change about yourself so you can deal with it?
If you can answer that question and take steps to make it so, you will be in the best position you can be in by Friday's end, ready for what the following week will bring.
